About

Soccer is the only game that brings fleeting moments of pure joy, and gives meaning to the lives of millions around the whole world...

Can you imagine this? CESC FABREGAS in a FC BARCELONA
uniform? Impossible? Yes, we know he has a contract with ARSENAL

until 2014, but the alarms are sounding & the optimisim is lifting at
“Camp Barça” after knowing that Cesc Fabregas has not signned a

renewal offer with Arsenal & the jurisprudence that the “Andy
Webster
Case” has put in place.

What is the “Andy Webster Case“, see this link for more news.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3097055,00.html

In a nutshell (& forgive me , I am not a lawyer), its a legal decision
taken
over Scottish & HEARTS player Andy Webster in his battle to
free himself
from his contract to sign for Wigan, in which he still had
2 years left. The battle went to FIFA who sentenced a 625,000
pounds compensation.
Debate: how did Fifa come to that figure? Appealed at the Court
Arbitration
for Sports (CAS) the sentence was reduced to 150,000
pounds .
Why? That´s the contract salary left to pay the player with 2 years
left at Hearts = JURISPRUDENCE - “new revolution in World
Football”

Summary - if your under 28 years of age, played more than 3 years
at your
club, have no contract restriction clause laws ( only Spain has,
therefore this
law does not affect here), you can leave your club by
compensating the club
the amount of salary left in your contract .

Back to CESC FABREGAS. He has not renewed with Arsenal &
that has put
everyone nervious at Arsenal. His contract ends in 2014
& he earns 3.5€/season, if FC BARCELONA ( or any other club) pays
3.5 x 8 years = 28M€, he can leave Arsenal tomorrow! Imagine this
with Cristiano Ronaldo?

Possible solution - introduce contract restriction & payment clauses
like Spain. The new “revolution” in World Football.

Many consider JOHAN CRUYFF the “Darth Vader” of FC
BARCELONA
as he his considered the man behind President Laporta
& maintains a strong influential force ( my punt!) on Barça.
The ex-World Football megastar, ex- Fc Barcelona legend, ex- Barça

“Dream Team” coach ( won Barça 1ºst ever European Cup) & now
sports journo & President Laporta´s “advisor” has slammed publically
the Barça midfield as the problem in last Saturday´s draw against
Sevilla FC

According to Cruyff, Edmilson, Iniesta & Xavi sinned by over touching
& passing of the ball without an aim, so much so, that they halted the
vertical direction of the team. Technical words indeed, but easy to
understand, the Barça midfield “played with itself” too long.
However, the Dutchmen did have great words for goalkeeper
VALDEZ who he gave 10 out of 10.

May the force be with you Barça & avoid the “Cruyff side”.

Due to popular demand here is the Real Madrid 7-0 game over Valladolid
& Atletico´s 0-2 win over Racing with a fabulous goal
by Diego Forlan

Huge Sunday in Round 23 of “La Liga” with plenty of goals, specially
for Real Madrid & Atletico de Madrid who got back on track. Here is
the full
round up of results, scorers & images.

The big news that will overshadow all other games is REAL MADRID´s
historical 7-0 victory over VALLADOLID, which enabled them to
open up a 8 point gap over their nearest rival Fc Barcelona who could
only manage
a draw yesterday against Sevilla.
Little to add here except the steamrolling that Valladolid got, even
though
they did play a good game & even touched the post. The only
bad news
was the injury suffered by ROBINHO, which allowed
Drenthe a run who
did an excellent job & game. GUTI was excellent
& ROBBEN deserves a mentioned as he was a real protagonist on
the field & livened up the forward line. Here are the scorers;

BAPTISTA scored first in the 8th min from a Robben pass.

RAUL got back onto the goalsheet with two goals, the first ( & Reals
second) in the 30min & the other from a penalty in the 38th min which
gave his team its 4th goal

Real Madrids 3rd goal came from ROBBEN in the 32min which was also
Reals third. The Dutchmen played a great game with goal passes for fellow

teammates & was dangerous all night. Great news for the team & player.

GUTI starred with goal passes & also managed two himself , with his
second a real beauty to be witness in the future via the numerous internet
videos that will be available. His goals came in the 43rd min & the 61st
min.

Young DRENTHE came on for injuried Robinho in the 1ºst half &
took the opportunity
well & scored Real Madrid seventh in the 79th min.

ATLETICO DE MADRID went to RACING & got back on course with a
0-2 victory, back into Champions League positions on the table & DIEGO
FORLAN
back in form with his teams two goals in the 55th & 73rd min.
Forlan´s second goal was a real “cracker”. Also Aguero played with a
“miracle” recovery of his ankle injury, show the Atletico “spirit”.

PONGOLLE ( above) scored two goals ( 17min & 25min) to take
his side RECREATIVO to a 1 -2 victory over ESPANYOL whos
only scorer was EWERTHORN in the 39th. Espanyol slip from
Champions & loss steam.

OSASUNA grabbed a valuable & well earned victory in a tough
game with 7 yellow cards over REAL ZARAGOZA who lost 1-0.
PLASIL ( above) scored Osasuna´s own goal in the 45th min.

ATHLETIC DE BILBAO won by the minimum with a solitary,
but no less important goal by LLORENTE in the 55th min to defeat
LEVANTE 1-0.

MALLORCA played a 0-0 draw against ALMERIA

The last game of the night, finally brought some joy to the Valencia fans
after their club VALENCIA CF defeated REAL BETIS 3-1 to give some
more
oxygen & deliver hope that the club has found the right road to
save the
season.
The other good news was the reencounter with the goal by DAVID
VILLA
who scored twice for Valencia along with SILVA. The
consolation goal
for Betis came via EDU in the 17th min. Valuable
points for Valencia & some well earned joy.

After 8 years DKV JUVENTUD has claimed the SPANISH CUP
2008 after defeating TAU CERAMICA de Vitoria in the final
80 - 82

The motor of the winning team was its charismatic leader RUDY
FERNANDEZ ( below) who contributed with 32 points. The best
for TAU were Rakocevic & Teletovic each contributing to their
team 17 points each.

Obviously the MVP Award went to 22 year old Rudy Fernandez who
as his points show, put in an incredible game. This performace will

set him up to leave Spanish Basketball for the NBA next season

The Asian SFS readers have flooded the SFS email with request to
see the goals in yesterdays big clash. Here are the two goals, Enjoy!

(Sevilla score 1st via Diego Capel; 33min)

(Barcelona equalize via Xavi Hernandez; 75 min)

According to Spanish daily “Marca” REAL MADRID has young
19 year old Brazilian & CORINTHIANS foward DENTINHO on
its agenda of possible signnings. In fact, the daily goes further to
comment that both clubs are actually talking right now & that the

figure roams the 2-3M€ mark, a real bargain if you consider that
if the player “explodes” in 5 years that price may x by 10.

Real Madrid has its scouts all over South America & Africa looking

for new talent & hoping to come across the next Bojan, Messi…etc.
Other youngsters in Real Madrid´s list include TIAGO LUIS &
16 year old Vasco de Gama player PHILIPINHO.

Three games played tonight of Round 23 of the Spanish 1º Division,
here are the results, scorers & images.

The big game was the SEVILLA FC - FC BARCELONA clash that
finally ended in a 1-1 draw. This gives the opportunity to Real Madrid,

who plays tomorrow against Valladolid, to open further open the points
gap
to 8 points if they manage to win.

Sevilla FC deserved to win the game but ran out of steam towards

to end when they went down to 10 men with the red card given to
Keita midway through the 2º half. However the 1ºst half was all
Sevilla who managed to score first via the goal of DIEGO CAPEL
(above) in the 33rd min. Barça goalkeeper Valdez managed to stop a

few more to go into the dressing rooms with Barça still alive.

In the 2ºhalf, Barça brought on Ronaldinho & Marquez to shake up the
team, but they did little. In fact, things went worst when Thierry Henry
pulled a muscle & was taken off. However, with Sevilla down to 10 men due
to the double yellow card to Keita & some luck on Barça´s side, XAVI
HERNANDEZ
once again saved his side in the 75th min to score the draw.
Towards the end, Capel had another chance but screwed it up.

Just result in the DEPORTIVO - GETAFE game with a 1-1 draw.
MARIO for Deportivo got his team in the lead in the 43rd min, but
UCHE (above) managed the draw in the 68th min.

Mexican International & VILLAREAL player GUILLE FRANCO
( pictured above) gave his side relief with the winning goal in extra

time, exactly in the 92nd min against REAL MURCIA. Final score
& “miracle”, 0-1 in Villareal´s favour.

The Real Sociedad Football Club & the Spanish Football community
is mourning the death of 53 year old ex- Sociedad player GENERO
CELAYETA after a long battle with disease.
Genero started with the Real Sociedad team in the 1979-80 season,
& was a vital part of the “Dream Team” the won back to back 1º
Division Spanish League Titles in 1980-81 & 81-82.

Genero played 302 times with Real Sociedad & was also a Spanish
International. From SFS, RIP.

Last Sunday 45,000 Atletico de Madrid fans looked in shock
as their leading goal scorer SERGIO AGUERO fell suddenly to
the turf & grabbed his ankle. If Atletico were struggling & attempting
to climb out of a “rough patch” the future looked awfully depressing.
The Argentine was taken off the ground on one leg & aided with
extreme pain on his face, it seemed destiny had once again played
the team a terrible through of dice. Later the medical team confirmed
the worst, 3 to 4 weeks out due to a serious strained ankle.

But Sergio has fully captured the Atletico de Madrid spirit perfectly,

when your most down & the harder you work to beat the odds.
Today, against all prognostics Aguero jumped onto the training field
to begin training & running with the team. The young star is attempting
to at least be on the bench this Sunday for the Racing match. Great
news for all Atletico fans, example of the Atletico spirit!
